Warning on Unsecured Wi-Fi Hot Spots

Before you use a Wi-Fi hot spot, you need to take some precautions.  Make sure you have a firewall installed and operating. Hot spots aren't secure access points and you need to take responsibility for your own computer security.

Public hot spots do not normally have any security in place. It is your responsibility to have a firewall installed on your laptop or use a VPN when connecting. Using an unsecured WiFi connection will allow others to view your data transmissions and even allow others access to files on your computer.
